Carved stone has a unique quality which still speaks to us millennia after the first human took chisel to rock. It reminds us of the natural formation of smooth tracks and pools worn through the landscape.  To carve it though requires a different mind-set as a piece of stone thick enough to represent the multiple depths of my white reliefs would result in too much weight to hang easily. For this reason, I limit myself to shallow carvings made in limestone and reduce the complexity of the design. The simplicity of the resulting forms combined with the texture and character of the stone creates compositions difficult to express in any other medium.
